Is the world still paying attention, or have donor governments accepted things as they are in Cambodia? What does it mean to have opposition parties, when their members are attacked with impunity? Where is accountability in campaign finance? Where is transparency in officials' asset declarations? What redress does an ordinary person have? All these questions must be asked before we come to the question of elections.
After studying at the Foreign Language Institute and Royal University of Phnom Penh, I became very interested in developing my country, improving governance and accountability, pushing for greater transparency and press freedom. This is not an easy task in Cambodia, but I'm proud to be part of the generation that is starting to move things forward.
Be brave, be honest, describe things as you see them. This is not just one way to move a country forward, it is the only way.
